This Brazilian jet maker's micro light jets are scheduled for release in
2008. Embraer joined the VLJ market a bit later than others but has no
plans to rush their project. One of the largest jet makers in the world,
only 6 percent of Embraer's revenue comes from corporate jet market and the
company would like to change that. Currently the majority of Embraer's
revenue is from the sale of regional jets. The addition of a smaller, less
expensive plane will round out Embraer's offerings allowing it to service just
about anyone in the market for a plane.
Compensating for its late entry into
microjet production, Embraer will be introducing two new models - one in each of
two new plane categories. The Phenom 100 will meet the under 10,000 pound
requirement to be considered a very light jet while the still small Phenom 300
will simply be classed as a "light jet" due to its weighing over 10,000 pounds.
